A. At this time, we do not include search engine promotion with a design package. Every client need is different, so we make tailored recommendations for marketing exposure. Good web site promotion can easily become a full-time job in itself, because search engines continuously change their submission formats. (Be careful of companies that make too-good-to-be-true results. The end result is that search engine placement can cost lots of money with little return on your efforts.) Our solution is to build all of our web sites to be search engine friendly, which will aid in online promotion. We then provide access to other tools that can build your website recognition.
Q. Will Launch Site Media help with training or information on setting up and using the e-mail autoresponders, forwarding, and other features?
A. Yes, we have documented the necessary steps to use the online e-mail system. This document is in the Support section of this site under, “How to use Launch Site web-based email.”
Q. Can I just rent or buy the e-commerce shopping cart without purchasing other website services?
A. Yes, the shopping cart license can either be rented monthly or purchased for a one-time license fee. The rent versus own choice is up to you. We recommend that you check to see if your hosting will support the shopping cart license requirements first. We can offer you the capability to host just your e-commerce solution with us. This will allow you to have your web site hosted elsewhere and link to your shopping cart on our servers.
Q. If I cancel my account, can I get a refund?
A. All of our hosting packages carry a 30-day money back guarantee from date of launch. This guarantee does not include refunds for any applicable setup fees.
Q. How can I check to see if a domain name is already taken?
A. You can visit our Domain Name Registration Area. If a name is available, you have the option of purchasing through our checkout system.
Q. Does Launch Site Media have any restrictions on the types of sites that can be hosted?

A. There is NO charge for domain transfers to our hosting servers. This transfer can be initiated by Launch Site Media and has to be authorized by the Administrative Contact that is on file with the domain name authority.
Q. Can I access my web site without putting a "www" before my domain name?
A. Yes. Launch Site Media offers "true" domain hosting. You may access your web site by either typing http://www.yourdomain.com or by typing http://yourdomain.com. Either one will work.
Q. How long will it take to set up a new hosting account?
A. Your hosting account request will be processed immediately upon receipt of your order. It will take approximately one business day to set up the servers with your specific hosting package. (Please note that it may take an extra 24 hours if you are registering a new domain name.) You will receive an e-mail with your logon information, including your username, password, and IP address. It will take approximately 72 hours for your domain name to propagate throughout the Internet, therefore, during initial uploads and testing, you will need to access your web site via the temporary address link we will provide.
Q. Are your servers connected 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?
A. Yes, they are always connected and monitored. Our hosting packages run on High Performance HP Servers using dual OC-48 connections on diverse backbones at 3 data center locations. Other technology includes Cisco Routers using BGP4 protocol, daily tape back-ups, UPS power back-up, and a diesel back-up generator to ensure quality uptime.
Q. How do I upload my website?
A. We have a special help area that explains FTP information. This will explain how to download using FTP client software package and upload your website pages to our system. If you are using Microsoft FrontPage, you can connect to our servers via that program as well.
Q. Can I use Microsoft FrontPage to develop my website?
A. Yes, we offer FrontPage 2000 extensions at no additional cost.
Q. Is e-mail a part of your hosting package? If so, do you offer web mail capabilities?
A. Yes, email is included with all of our hosting packages. Each hosting package has different quantities of email accounts, so you can choose the one that best fits your needs. This system is a web based e-mail system that allows the user to manage their own e-mail accounts via a web browser. This can also be used as a POP3 e-mail account and connected to via Outlook, Outlook Express, or any other e-mail system.
Q. What is an e-mail alias and how many can I have?
A. An e-mail alias allows the setup of an e-mail address such as email@example.com. Any e-mail sent to that address can be forwarded or aliased to another e-mail address or multiple e-mail addresses. Depending on the hosting package purchased, you will have unlimited e-mail aliasing.
Q. What should the pages of my web site be called and are they case sensitive?
A. Only the "home" page of your site must be named something specific. We run both Windows and Linux servers, so each operating system has different requirements. For Windows hosting, the "home" page must be called DEFAULT.HTM or DEFAULT.ASP. For Linux hosting, the “home” page must be called INDEX.HTML or INDEX.HTM. All of your other pages can be named whatever you desire as long as you link directly to those filenames. All file extensions should either be .HTM or .ASP depending on how the page is developed. Note: these filenames should all be LOWER case as the system is case sensitive.
Q. Do you use SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology?
A. Yes, our hosting packages can be activated with SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption for our e-commerce or other applications. This allows the transmission of sensitive data to and from your customer via encrypted connection. Please contact us for your specific SSL needs.
Q. How can I get a backup of my web site that is hosted on your servers?
A. We will provide one free CD backup of your site upon request and each subsequent request will be $5.
